Real-Time Vehicular Wireless System-Level Simulation

Future automation and control units for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) will exchange sensor kinematic data with nearby vehicles using wireless communication links to improve traffic safety. In this paper we present an accurate real-time system-level simulation multi-vehicle scenarios support the development test of connected ADAS systems. The physical data-link layer are abstracted provide frame error rate (FER) a network simulator. FER is strongly affected by non-stationary doubly dispersive fading process vehicular radio channel. We use geometry-based stochastic channel model (GSCM) enable simplified but still representation process. propagation path parameters GSCM used efficiently compute time-variant condensed per stationarity region each link during run-time. Five mainly determine forming parameter vector: loss, root mean square delay spread, Doppler bandwidth, K -factor, line-of-sight shift. measure pre-defined set discrete grid points vector emulator given transmitter-receiver modem pair. stored in table looked up run-time simulation. validate our methodology empirical measurement from street crossing demonstrating close match terms between measurement.
